Hello,

I'm Garrett Detrixhe, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Allyson Whitney Foundation’s 2025 BMW Berlin Marathon Team!

Each year, over 85,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer, many facing rare and genetically unique forms of the disease. For young adults, a cancer diagnosis doesn’t just bring physical and emotional pain—it upends their entire lives. Many must navigate financial strain, paused college plans, job loss, infertility, and even delayed or misdiagnosed treatment due to age-related biases. The ripple effects extend to their entire families.

The Allyson Whitney Foundation offers young adult cancer patients "Life Interrupted Grants" to help ease their financial burdens, allowing them to focus their energy on healing during the most challenging time of their lives.

I joined this team because of my friend Aubrey, who received a survivorship grant from AWF during her battle with cancer at just 24 years old. AWF helped her cover essential living expenses, provided travel funds, and offered emotional support that reminded her she wasn’t alone—making all the difference. I’m incredibly proud to run alongside her this September in Berlin as part of this amazing team.

My goal is to raise $2,800 for the Allyson Whitney Foundation, and I would love your support! Every dollar you donate goes directly toward providing financial assistance, travel grants, and emotional support for young adults battling rare cancers.

If donating isn’t possible right now, don’t worry—sharing my fundraising page with your friends and family can have just as powerful an impact. Every share helps spread the word and brings us one step closer to supporting young adults who need it most. Together, we can make a real difference and brighten the lives of those facing their toughest battles.

Thank you so much for your encouragement and generosity! For more information about AWF and their mission, visit allysonwhitney.org. If you'd like to follow along with my running journey, you can check out my progress on Strava: https://tinyurl.com/yw8f8tdt
