At the Allyson Whitney Foundation, we’re still glowing from an unforgettable evening of inspiration, remembrance, and giving. Our 4th annual gala, A Night of a Million Stars, took place on Saturday, September 13th at the stunning Villa Venezia in Middletown, NY—and it was nothing short of magical.

This year’s event carried special meaning as we celebrated an incredible milestone: $1 million in giving to young adults with rare cancers. It was a night to honor the courageous warriors among us, remember those now shining as bright stars in the sky, and raise critical funds to continue our mission.

One of the evening’s most powerful moments came when Lissete Lugo-Williams, one of our brave cancer warriors, took the stage to share her journey—a story of immense strength, resilience, and bravery in the face of cancer.

We also heard from Katy Sforza, Allyson’s sister, who gave a heartfelt speech about her family’s experience with AYA (Adolescent and Young Adult) cancer and how founding the Allyson Whitney Foundation helped keep Allyson’s spirit and wish alive after she became an angel.

A beautiful surprise of the evening was the presentation of the Guiding Star Award to Barbara Strong, COO and Founder of AWF, who had no idea it was coming. The award recognized her tireless dedication to continuing her daughter Allyson’s legacy and bringing light to others through the foundation’s work.

A special highlight of the night was the unveiling of a stunning mural by local artist Tobi Magnetico. The artwork captures the essence of our community—one rooted in love, light, strength, resilience, and hope. It now stands as a powerful visual tribute to the spirit that fuels the Allyson Whitney Foundation and those we serve.

Of course, the night wasn’t all serious—we had plenty of FUN too! Music Masters kept the energy high with a DJ and music that had everyone on their feet dancing. Our popular Silent Auction returned with incredible items including local experiences, sports memorabilia, trips, artwork, jewelry, and more!

Guests also enjoyed fan-favorite activities like the Wine Pull, Balloon Pop, and Million Dollar Candy Bars, each offering the chance to win amazing prizes while supporting a great cause.
