Why I run

As most of you all know, Ruby my youngest sister was diagnosed with leukaemia right before Christmas in 2024. This diagnosis only came months before her 18th birthday party.

Instead of celebrating her 18th birthday and the freedom that comes with adulthood, Ruby spent her days in hospital, facing treatments no one her age should have to endure. Watching her fight leukaemia with such courage and resilience changed my perspective on everything.

Running has become my way of showing support. Every kilometre I run is for Ruby — a reminder of her strength on the hardest days, and a way to raise awareness for everyone affected by cancer. When the run gets tough, I remember that I can choose to stop; she never had that choice.

I’m running the Berlin Marathon for Ruby, and for all young adults fighting battles far tougher than 42.2 kilometres
