Why do I run? Why marathons? Why the Abbott World Majors? The answer is simple… not only do I run for the love of running, but I run to make a difference and bring awareness and hope to families affected by cancer.
In 2017 my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at only 28 years old. For 4 years she went through chemotherapy and radiation, but unfortunately in 2020 her cancer came back with a vengeance, taking over more organs. December 23rd, 2020 at only 31 years old my sister lost her battle to cancer and gained her angel wings.
This September I will be running the Berlin Marathon in support of the Allyson Whitney Foundation. This foundation helps young adults financially. Young adults fighting cancer shouldn’t have to choose between paying for treatment or paying for daily needs. They shouldn’t face cancer alone! By donating and supporting my goal you are helping make a difference in young adults lives all around the world, just like my sister.
Fighting cancer and being young, you shouldn’t have to worry about expenses or bills, they should be able to focus on treatment and living life to its fullest. Every donation, big or small pushes me closer to the finish line and helps support cancer patients.
