The Last Star in My 6-Star Journey!
Running has always been my passion — my source of strength, happiness, and a way to navigate life’s challenges.
In July 2023, after losing my beloved husband, best friend, and running partner Makarand, running became my anchor. It gave me the courage and focus to keep moving forward, one step at a time.
Before he passed away, Makarand was pursuing the 6-Star World Marathon Majors Medal, awarded to runners who complete the six Abbott World Marathon Majors — Boston, New York, London, Chicago, Berlin, and Tokyo. He was just two races away: Berlin and Tokyo.
In his memory — and in my own search for strength, healing, and purpose — I decided to take on the challenge of completing his dream. Thanks to everyone’s love and support, I recently ran Tokyo. Berlin is now my last star in this 6-star journey.
What began as a tribute slowly became my own journey. Through running, I found new friends, inspiring coaches, supportive running groups, and a community that lifted me up when I needed it most, and of course, some newfound aches and pains 😊.
Running the Berlin Marathon was Makarand’s dream — and now it is mine too.
As part of this journey, I’m also running for something bigger than myself. I’m raising funds for the Allyson Whitney Foundation, an organization that brings hope and financial support to young adults battling rare cancers. Young adults facing cancer should never have to choose between paying for treatment and meeting basic living needs. They deserve support, hope, and a fighting chance.
Running a marathon for charity is more than fun or fitness for me. Every mile, every drop of sweat represents resilience, healing, and hope. I'm running not just for myself or for my love for Makarand or to cross the finish line — but for every young adult whose may get the gift of life by this noble cause. Because in a world where so much feels beyond our control, we still have the power to lift others up.
This run is for love.
For strength.
For resilience.
And above all — for hope and a better tomorrow.
Every dollar you donate goes directly to the Allyson Whitney Foundation. None of the funds support my marathon expenses — your generosity goes entirely toward helping young adults facing rare cancers.
I truly appreciate your support.
