At the Allyson Whitney Foundation, we LOVE all our #AWFSQUAD charity runners. Every one of them is a HERO who helps us bring HOPE to young adults facing rare cancers. But every once in a while, we get to celebrate someone whose story with AWF goes back to the very beginning.

Julie Kaufman is one of those extraordinary people.

Since 2012, Julie (then Goodman) and her husband, Jared, have stood beside AWF, sponsoring our Peace Love Run 5K year after year or supporting our galas when the 5K wasn’t held. Their generosity and unwavering belief in our mission have helped us continue Ally’s legacy and reach young adults and families facing some of life’s most difficult moments.

That kind of dedication is more than support. It’s LOVE in action. It’s showing up. It’s believing in a mission and standing beside it for more than a decade. And to our AWF family, that means EVERYTHING!

And now… Julie is taking that love to the streets of New York City, running in the TCS New York City Marathon in support of the Allyson Whitney Foundation!

And do you know who holds the second-highest fundraising charity runner spot of all time? Her husband, Jared, raised an extraordinary $13,809 in 2022.

A husband-and-wife team. Years of dedication. One shared mission. And SO MUCH HEART!

As Julie runs through the five boroughs of New York City, she is carrying so much more than a fundraising total. She is carrying the HOPE of young adults facing uncertainty of their future because of a cancer diagnosis. She should keep our gratitude in her heart for what she has done for AWF since inception.

Every dollar raised helps us remind young adults facing cancer that they are NOT forgotten, that their struggles matter, and that there is a community ready to stand beside them.

THAT is what makes Julie a HERO!
