As we reflect on how far we’ve come, we also look up—literally!

The Allyson Whitney Foundation now has a permanent place in the stars. Yes, a real star, officially named in honor of the foundation, now shines brightly in the night sky, nestled near the constellation Ursa Major.

Allyson Whitney Foundation – A Literal Star in the Sky

The name “Ursa Major,” meaning “Greater Bear” in Latin, comes from the constellation’s bear-like shape and its seven bright stars that form the Big Dipper. Across cultures, Ursa Major has symbolized protection, guidance, and enduring love—its story of a mother and son immortalized in the heavens reflecting strength, connection, and the light that continues to guide us even through darkness.

This star is more than a beautiful gesture. It’s a powerful symbol of strength, guidance, and enduring presence—a tribute to our mission, our warriors, and the light that continues to grow even in the darkest of times.

We’ve always said our work is about more than grants and events—it’s about hope, and this star is a radiant reminder that hope doesn’t just live here on Earth. It shines, it guides, and it endures.

And now, it becomes a celestial symbol of our tagline:
Shining a light on young adults with rare cancers.

Just like our mission, this star is now part of something greater than any one of us alone. It honors every young adult we serve, every supporter who believes in us, and every soul who has become a bright star in the sky.

Our purpose reaches beyond the tangible—into the skies, into the hearts of those we serve, and into a future filled with hope and healing.

This star lights the way.
It tells our story.
And now, it shines for all to see.
